On August 20, the professional section of the Film Industry Office of the 12th Odesa International Film Festival ended. The jury chose the winners of Pitching and Work in Progress.
The winner of Pitching was the project of the film Vera directed by Marina Stepanskaya. It received an award of UAH 60,000 from the general media partner, the Ukraine TV channel. Yelizaveta Smith's film "Vacuum" received UAH 30,000 from the official partner izibank. The third place and UAH 25,000 from the media partner oll.tv went to Natalka Vorozhbyt's "Demons", and the "Special Jury Award" went to the project of the film Home, directed by Or Sinai.
In the Work in Progress competition, the winner was Taras Tomenko's film Boney Piles, which received UAH 60,000 from the Ukraine TV channel. The second place was taken by Maksym Nakonechny's film Spas - an award of UAH 25,000 from oll.tv, and the third place and a special award took Dmytro Hreshko's film Ambulance on the Periphery (Mountains and Heaven in Between).
Also, on this day, a presentation of trends in the audiovisual sector in 2010–2030 took place. According to OIFF president Viktoriia Tihipko, “Today it's not enough to follow the trends, one has to be ahead of it, analyze what the next trend is going to be.”
During the discussion on film funding opportunities in Ukraine, participants examined how projects for funding are being chosen and how funding might be obtained. They also discussed the priority of talent over topics.
“Local and regional film commissions are our future. We must not film in Kyiv only. This will be an entirely different stage of development,” assures Artem Koliubaiev, Head of the Council for State Support of Cinematography.
