EN The 6th Odessa International Film Festival Presents its first awards to ukrainian cinematographers 07 2015

On July 17, OIFF named the winners of the first awards. The Duke for the Best Short Film in National Competition Program received Man's Work, directed by Maria Stepanska. Awards for the best projects within Pitching and Work in Progress sections of Film Industry Office, Best Ukrainian Acting, as well as the award for the Best Ukrainian Films according to the FIPRESCI jury were also presented.
 
The Best Short Film in National Competition Program was awarded to the film Man's Work by Maria Stepanska for “the wonderful sense of cinematographic matter and the coherent actors’ performance”. The film received the Duke figure and a certificate for UAH 25,000.
 
The Prize for the Best Acting within the National Competition was awarded to the actors duo of Kateryna Gornostai’s short film Away — Viktoriya Myronyuk and Andriy Palatny. Cash equivalent of the award is 25,000 UAH.
 
By a unanimous decision of the expert jury the Best Project in Pitching in the Film Industry section was awarded to the début feature by Max Ksjonda, titled Tank. This is not the first OIFF award of the director — in 2013 his work The Way received the Duke as a Best Short Film in National Competition program. The winner of Pitching was awarded a UAH 50 000 monetary prize from the UDP developing company.
 
The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) also chose best films of National Competition program. The award went to the documentary feature by Krzysztof Kopczyński The Dybbuk. A Tale of Wandering Souls and a short film Son directed by Philip Sotnychenko.
 
The official carrier of the festival, Ukraine International Airlines (UIA), named the winning project within Work in Progress program, which is Captives by Volodymyr Tykhyy. The project won USD 3,000 and a certificate for flying with Ukraine International Airlines.
 
Winners of the OIFF-2015 top prizes will be announced tomorrow, on July 18, at the Closing Ceremony of the Odessa International Film Festival. The awards to be announced include — Grand Prix for Best Feature Film of the International Competition, awards for Best Picture, Best Directing and Best Acting, as well as the Golden Duke award for the Best Ukrainian Feature Film.
