On 26 November, during the round table "Ukraine - Kazakhstan: opportunities for cooperation" pitching presentation of co-production projects will take place. To apply for participation please fill out the form until 16 November.
Three best projects from Ukraine will be selected on 20 November. The authors will have the opportunity to present their projects to the colleagues from Kazakhstan during the round table. 3 projects from Kazakhstan will be presented as well.
The round table will be attended by the general producer of the Odesa International Film Festival and member of the Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Film Academy Julia Sinkevych and Anna Kachko, Chief Advisor to the chairman of the board and Curator of International Strategy of State Center for Support of National Cinema (Kazakh Cinema), as well as leading producers and filmmakers from Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
"This is the time when partnership with other countries is becoming not only an opportunity, but also an occasion for fostering strong connections within the film industry. Ukraine has been heard and seen on the international market of film production for several years now, thus it has established itself as an interesting partner for co-production. I am sure that we will continue to expand the geographical boundaries of cooperation and now there is a chance to create a platform for mutual exchange of experiences and culture. This is an opportunity to create something of high-quality and brand new”, Julia Sinkevych said.
“The film industry of Ukraine has been developing rapidly. In the recent years, a number of organizations and mechanisms have emerged to help promote the industry and encourage joint production with other countries. In Kazakhstan there is great interest in the partnership due to the adoption of the Law on Cinema in 2019, the introduction of rebates and additional opportunities for international co-production. I believe now is a great moment to create a platform for communication and collaboration between filmmakers in Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Our countries have a lot in common, and I hope that joint projects will appear soon”, Anna Kachko commented.
The round table will take place on 26 November from 12:00 to 1:30 pm Kyiv time. The event will be live streamed on the DzygaMDB Facebook page. After the round table, all projects will be collected into a catalog and distributed among all participants, as well as published on the DzygaMDB platform and on the website of the Kazakh Cinema: State Center for Support of National Cinema.
The event is organized by the Odesa International Film Festival, the online platform DzygaMDB, the USAID Competitive Economy Program in Ukraine and State Center for Support of National Cinema (Kazakh Cinema).
