French Institute in Ukraine (FIU) was founded in 1994 under the auspices of the Embassy of France in Ukraine.
Like the 150 other French institutions around the world, it is a part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has the following objectives: the promotion of French language and culture, as well as the establishment of long-term cooperation with cultural leaders, artists and universities in Ukraine.
It`s activity includes: all levels French language courses, providing readers with books and periodicals in the media library, rich cultural activity that introduces the audience with contemporary art in France and organizes the exchange of experiences with public figures and artists from Ukraine, as well as the development and strengthening of connections in the scientific and university areas.
FIU closely cooperates with the Alliance Française`s network, presented in the big cities of Ukraine.
And, finally, FIU applies special efforts to establish cooperation in the audiovisual field between Ukraine and France, and therefore it supports the country's biggest film festivals such as Odessa International Film Festival.
