Odessa International Film Festival together with Ukrainian state film agency and with the help of Solar Media Company organizes Ukrainian focus at Connecting Cottbus - an East-West co-production market.
'Voroshilovgrad' (Special mention of the OIFF-2013 Pitching Jury), Ukrainian-Swedish eastern directed by Yaroslav Lodygin and produced by Vladimir Yatsenko & Miklos Gimes, will run for main pitching awards at the official competition of the Сonnecting cottbus (November 10-11, 2016). The screen version of Serhiy Zhadan’s novel with the same name tells about thirty year old Herman, who has to return to his native town in the Donbass in order to find his brother and protect family’s business.
A presentation of Ukrainian film industry and potentialities of co-production with Ukraine will be held at non-competition program. Philip Illienko, head of Ukrainian State Film Agency, OIFF general producer Julia Sinkevych and Ukrainian producers will participate in this presentation.
Also, three Ukrainian projects are taking part in non-competition program:
- ‘Egregor’ (dir. Lybomir Levitsky, prod. Sergey Lavrenyuk) – the owner of the Prize for the Best presentation of Pitching project from the Legal partner ‘Bublik & Co.’ tells mystic story of the Orders, which are fighting for egregors that can change the world and humanity.
- ‘Nirvana guest house’ (dir. Bogdana Smirnova, prod. Maxim Asadchiy) – describes the search of the main heroine’s true self and love. The story is set in the past during tragic historical events in Ukraine.
- ‘Republic Pilgrim’ (dir. Alexey Mamedov, prod. Dmitry Sukhanov & Alla Belaya) – narrates about drug rehabilitation.
