The film “A Gentle Creature” caused a real commotion at the Festival Centre “Rodina”. This is the Ukrainian premiere of the film, which Sergei Loznitsa based on Dostoevsky’s eponymous novel. “This is the first screening of the film on a territory whose citizens do not need any explanations – everyone understands what is going on,” said the director.
Before the screening, Lia Akhedzhakova expressed her gratitude to the director: “I have not acted on film for a few years not because I wasn’t offered, but because I had nothing to say. I’m happy that I was suddenly of interest to my favourite director, whose films we tracked and shared with each other. This is a gift of fate! Although the role is small, it was exactly what I wanted and what I would have always agreed to.”
The co-producer of “A Gentle Creature” Serhiy Lavreniuk, producer at Solar Media Entertainment, added: “It is very symbolic that the second official screening of this film, after the Cannes Film Festival, is in Ukraine. In our hearts, we brought the Golden Palm branch from Cannes. In my opinion, with his next film, Sergei needs to take the whole tree.” The main heroine of “A Gentle Creature” Vasilina Makovtseva thanked the guests for their attention to the film and for filling all the seats in the hall.
The film was created in co-production of 7 countries: Lithuania, Latvia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia and Ukraine.
