Christian Petzold is a German director, winner of the Silver Bear of the 62nd Berlin Film Festival for Best Director (“Barbara”). The director has twice won the FIPRESCI prize: in 2003 at Berlinale (“Wolfsburg”), and in 2014 at the San Sebastian Film Festival (“Phoenix”).

Petzold’s films were also nominated for main prizes of prestigious film festivals, namely: the nomination for the Best Picture of the main competition of the Berlin Film Festival (“Ghosts” in 2005, “Yella” in 2007, “Barbara” in 2012), the nomination for Best Picture of the main competition of the 65th Venice Film Festival (“Jericho”), the nomination for the European Film Academy prize for Best Picture (“Barbara” in 2012). The film “Phoenix” claimed the main prize at the 62nd San Sebastian Film Festival.
